Milwaukee Rescue Mission – New Journey, New Berlin
Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) is a Christian nonprofit founded in 1893 that provides shelter, meals, education, and recovery services at its central Milwaukee campus (Safe Harbor for men, Joy House for women and children).
New Journey is MRM’s long‑running, six‑month Christian residential recovery program for men, using a holistic model: mental‑health counseling, addiction recovery programming, life‑skills education, Christian mentoring, and job readiness.
Participants must first complete a roughly 28‑day “candidacy” phase on campus involving interviews, assessments, background checks, and confirmation that there are no unaddressed legal issues or critical medical concerns.
We are NOT against the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and their mission. We wholeheartedly believe that rehab facilities should exist. However, considering the impact of such programs, careful city planning is required and the development must lawfully adhere to proper building and zoning codes. These zones are specifically created to ensure public safety, security, prosperity, in which all proposals must comply.
